City Voting

Stagelink, November 25, 2015

A city voting campaign has the purpose to identify the right cities for your shows/tour, finding your most devoted fans and enabling you to reach them directly. Your core fans can be your most valuable helpers and promoters. With their help you can find out how you should plan your tour, which means picking the right cities and venue sizes. In terms of promotion your fans will help you to spread the word about your tour. Word of mouth is a very powerful marketing tool and you should make use of it.

Step 1: Preparation

It is crucial to plan and schedule all the necessary activities in order to run a successful city voting campaign. A plan is like a map: Knowing where you are is essential for making good decisions on where to go or what to do next.

City Voting (duration: 3-4 weeks)

Venue Booking (duration: 1-4 weeks)

Ticket Sales & Promotion (duration: 6-20 weeks)

Make a video: Enhance your campaign with a personal teaser video - Get your fans excited about your tour plans and make them vote for their city. Your video doesn’t have to be movie quality but more importantly, it should be personal and engaging. Upload your clip on YouTube or Vimeo and embed it on your Stagelink profile (Edit profile). Share the video at the beginning of the city voting via all your social media channels. Take a look at some examples and get inspired:

Step 1: City voting

Spread the word to find and activate your “super fans”. Fans who are willing to express their desire to see you live and vote for you are likely to share this with others. Moreover they are mostly the ones to buy tickets first. Use all your channels to tell them about your tour plans.

Track your fan requests on your Stagelink profile and see them growing. How to motivate your fans to vote for their city? Make yourself a timeline (duration of 3-4 weeks) and post repeatedly about the city voting during your campaign. Make it fun.

• This is just a sample - use your own language and style. Include your campaign video and add pictures as eye candy to arouse more interest. Make it fun to participate.
• Make sure to use the correct link to your Stagelink profile. It should be clearly visible.
• Tell your friends/partners to share and promote your city voting (Snowball effect)
